Create your first link
From the dashboard: paste the destination URL into the create form, optionally give it a slug, label, and note, and press File this link. The short link is live immediately and appears at the top of your library with a copy button.
If you skip the slug, we generate one. If you skip the label and note, the link still works — but see the guide on labels below before your library passes twenty links.
Pick a slug that ages well
Three rules of thumb:
Describe the thing, not the moment. /pricing outlives /new-pricing-2026.
Keep it sayable. If you'll ever read the link aloud — podcast, video, phone — test it by saying it. Dashes survive speech better than numbers.
Reserve the generic ones early. Slugs are first come, first served across the whole service. If your business will ever want /menu, claim it now.
Change where a link points
Find the link in your library (search or filter by label), hit Edit, paste the new destination, save. The route updates immediately for every visitor from that moment on — no caching lag, because we serve 302 redirects.
The slug can also be edited, but think twice: changing the slug changes the link itself, which breaks anywhere the old one was shared. Edit slugs before you distribute, destinations after.
Organize with labels and notes
A label answers "which drawer does this live in?" — a client, a project, a channel. One label per link keeps filtering clean. A note answers "what will I need to know later?" — when to rotate it, who requested it, what it replaced.
A workable convention: label by project (Campaigns, Partners, Evergreen), and write a note on any link whose destination is meant to change. Future-you inherits a library, not a mystery.
Account basics
Your account is an email and password. Everything you file is tied to it and available from any device you sign in on. To change your email or delete the account entirely, contact us during early access — self-serve settings are on the roadmap.
If a shortner-url.link address routes to malware, phishing, a scam, or anything illegal, report it with the full short link and what you found. Reports are reviewed and offending links disabled. This is the maintenance that keeps the whole domain trusted by browsers and mail filters — it protects every legitimate link on the service, including yours.
